CMR certifies state saltwater fishing record

BILOXI, Miss. – The Commission on Marine Resources certified the state saltwater conventional tackle fishing record at Tuesday’s meeting.

Brandon Bosarge of Gautier broke the record for Speckled hind (Epinephelus drummondhay) with a 12-pound, 12.16-ounce fish he caught on Nov. 21. The previous record was 5 pounds, 8.8 ounces set in September 2014.

Commissioners also voted 3-1 Tuesday to open the area between the two bridges in Bay St. Louis to oyster tonging. Commissioner Ernie Zimmerman voted against the motion.
