BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Commission on Marine Resources will formalize the advertisement inviting applications and nominations for the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (MDMR) Executive Director position at their next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. Upon approval by the Commission, the advertisement outlining the Executive Director responsibilities and qualifications and the time period for which applications will be accepted will be widely distributed to the public.
Once the Commission has received a suitable number of qualified candidates, the process for selecting the three names to be forwarded to the Governor will begin.
“This process will take, at minimum, another full month,” said Commission Chairman Dr. Vernon Asper. “We value the input we have been receiving from our stakeholders and are taking public comments very seriously. We will do everything possible to find the best administrator.”
The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the state by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
