Application by MS Department of Marine Resources

The MS Department of Marine Resources’ Office of Marine Fisheries has filed notice of a proposed project which requires review by the MS Department of Marine Resources Office of Coastal Resources Management to ensure compliance with the state’s approved Coastal Program under the Coastal Zone Management Act.

The applicant is proposing to create a Mississippi Artificial Reef Complex which will consist of structures made of limestone aggregate, fabricated reef modules, repurposed concrete, vessels/barges, and structured steel to be utilized during deployments. The proposed projects will take place in an area of approximately 16,575 acres between two reef zones that are located 15 miles south of the Pascagoula River, adjacent to FH-13 in the Gulf of Mexico.

Any person wishing to make comments or objections to the proposed activity must submit those comments in writing to Katie Nelson by mail at the Department of Marine Resources at 1141 Bayview Avenue, Biloxi, Mississippi 39530, by email at katie.nelson@dmr.ms.gov, or by using the form below before 1:00 p.m. on the day November 30, 2022.
