CMR Proposes Change to Shrimping Gear Regulation

BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Commission on Marine Resources (CMR) has proposed a rule change to Title 22, Part 2, Chapter 5, Section 100, Gear Regulations to provide that shrimp trawl doors shall not exceed 8 feet in length and 43 inches in height. The current regulation requires trawl doors shall not exceed 6 feet in length and 34 inches in height.

 

Public comments on the proposed regulation change will be accepted through April 10, 2011. All comments should be mailed to the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources main office at 1141 Bayview Avenue, Biloxi, MS 39530, Attention: Joe Jewell, by 5 p.m. on April 10 or emailed to Joe Jewell at joe.jewell@dmr.ms.gov.
