The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has filed notice of a proposed project which requires review by the MS Department of Marine Resources to ensure compliance with the state’s approved Coastal Program under the Coastal Zone Management Act.
The applicant is proposing to add roughly 1 million cubic yards of sandy fill to construct beach and dune improvements at 3 separate reaches within a stretch of existing mainland coastline in Hancock County, MS. The approximate 8-mile project shoreline is located between Bay St. Louis and Bayou Caddy and seaward of Beach Boulevard’s existing seawall.
