Commercial Spotted Seatrout Season to Open Feb. 1

BILOXI, Miss. – The commercial fishing season for spotted seatrout  (Cynoscion nebulosus) will open in Mississippi territorial waters on Feb. 1, 2013 at 12:01 a.m. The commercial fishing season for spotted seatrout will remain open for the months of February, March, April and May or until  25,000 pounds of the quota has been met; whichever occurs first. The commercial season will then remain closed until June 1, 2013, on which day the second half of the season will open. The second half of the season will be open for the months of June, July and August and will close on Sept. 30, 2013, unless the full 50,000-pound quota has been reached prior to this date.

 

The opening of this season is issued under the authority of Section 49-15-15 (1) (a) (2009), of the Mississippi Code.
