DMR to hold Shellfish Conference on April 25-27

BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources will host the Gulf and South Atlantic States Shellfish Conference from Tuesday, April 25, through Thursday, April 27.

 

The conference will feature speakers from DMR, the Food and Drug Administration, Texas A&M and the Mississippi Department of Health. Topics include the status of the Mississippi oyster industry, monitoring red tides, vibrio, managing biotoxins and oyster aquaculture.

 

The conference will be held at the Biloxi Civic Center, 578 Howard Ave.

 

The cost to attend the conference is $150, and anyone interested can register on site. An agenda is attached, and your coverage is invited.

 

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the state by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
