Order of the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources Opening Conditionally Approved and Approved Waters to the Harvest of Oysters
In accordance with the Mississippi Administrative Code Title 22, Part 1 and the “Order by the Director of the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources Reopening the 2024 Mississippi Oyster Season in certain waters classified as approved and conditionally approved, and placing certain restrictions on oyster harvesting and handling activities,” the MDMR hereby orders that the following areas will open to the harvest of oysters at legal sunrise, Thursday, December 19, 2024.
The updated commercial oyster tonging vessel daily limit is (fifteen) 15 sacks, and the commercial oyster dredging vessel daily limit is twenty (20) sacks. Recreational harvesters are limited to (three) 3 sacks per 7-day period.
Conditional Approved Area II “E” – Including Henderson Point Reef
Conditional Approved Area II “F” Tonging Box – Including the southern portion of the Pass Christian Tonging Box. The Pass Christian State-Owned Reef will be closed to dredging.
Conditional Approved Area II “G” – Including Pass Marianne Reef
Approved Area II “H” – Including Telegraph Reef
Approved Area II “I” – Including Pelican Reef
All other current rules and regulations will remain in effect.
