BILOXI, Miss. – A junior from Long Beach High School has won the second annual Celebrate the Gulf poster contest.

Grace Bennett, 16, said she found out about the contest through the school.

“I’m interested in pursuing a career in art,” she said. “It looked like an interesting competition, so I decided to enter.”

The 25th annual Celebrate the Gulf Marine Educational Festival will be held Saturday, April 2, at War Memorial Park in Pass Christian. The Celebrate the Gulf committee received 15 poster submissions and voted in the competition.

Bennett was announced as the winner at the Commission on Marine Resources meeting, which was held Tuesday in Gautier.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity that the DMR is giving me,” she said.

Bennett’s poster features marine life found in the Gulf of Mexico.

Bennett will be at the festival signing posters, which are free.
