MCMR certifies new state saltwater fishing record for Atlantic bumper

BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Commission on Marine Resources (MCMR) certified a Mississippi recreational saltwater conventional tackle record during its May 20 meeting.

 

Thomas O’Brien of Pascagoula broke the state conventional record for Atlantic bumper with a 6.03-ounce fish on April 27, 2014. The previous record was 3.45 ounces set in August 2013.

 

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the state by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
