BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources certified three state saltwater fishing records for the month of July.
For conventional tackle, Timothy Kennedy of Ocean Springs set the record for Gray Snapper (Lutjanus griseus) with a fish weighing 15 pounds, 9.6 ounces.
For all tackle by using a spear, Mike Aucoin of St. Rose, La., set the record for Permit (Trachinotus falcatus) with a fish weighing 14 pounds, 3.2 ounces.
For youth conventional tackle, Riley Armes, 13, of Pass Christian set the record for Bonnethead (Sphyrna tiburo) with a fish weighing 8 pounds, 15.2 ounces.
