MDMR Marine Patrol Responds to Boating Accident in Bay of St. Louis

BILOXI, Miss. — The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources’ (MDMR) Marine Patrol continues its investigation of a boating accident in which one person died and one was injured, which occurred Saturday morning south of the DuPont plant in the Bay of St. Louis in Harrison County. Jason Davis, 34, of Purvis, died in the accident.

 

The call came in to MDMR Marine Patrol at 11:17 a.m. from the Gulfport Coast Guard. Four MDMR Marine Patrol officers and four boats were immediately dispatched to the scene. Marine Patrol officers Scott Saucier, John Grimsley, Dwayne Armes and Bryan Wallace arrived at the scene and found an 18-foot home-made skiff with two persons onboard and one person still in the water.

 

According to witness statements, the boat hit a wave and two people were ejected out. One person was able to get back into the boat.

 

All three passengers were transported to the Bay-Waveland Yacht Club: the victim’s wife, Tara Davis of Purvis was uninjured; the boat owner, Tony Stuart of Bay St. Louis was suffering from hypothermia and transported by American Medical Response to the Hancock Medical Center; and Jason Davis was deceased.

 

The accident is still under investigation by MDMR Marine Patrol.
