MDMR to hold public hearing on proposed fish net ban around Cat Island

BILOXI, Miss. – Officials with the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, regarding a proposed fish net ban within one mile around Cat Island.

 

The hearing will be held in the auditorium of the Bolton Building, 1141 Bayview Ave., Biloxi.

 

At its July meeting, the Commission on Marine Resources approved a Notice of Intent to update, modify and change listed sections of Title 22 Part 5. A complete copy of Title 22 Part 5 and the proposed changes is available at www.dmr.ms.gov.

 

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the state by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
