Mississippi Commercial and Recreational Greater Amberjack Seasons to Close

BILOXI, Miss. – Commercial fishing season for greater amberjack will close in Mississippi territorial waters on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at 12:01 a.m. and remain closed through Dec. 31, 2011. This coincides with the opening and closing of commercial greater amberjack season in federal waters.

 

The last day to commercially fish for greater amberjack is Friday, June 17, 2011, and all commercially caught greater amberjack must be landed no later than midnight. The season will reopen Jan. 1, 2012, at 12:01 a.m.

 

Recreational fishing season for greater amberjack will close in Mississippi territorial waters on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at 12:01 a.m. and remain closed through Aug. 1, 2011 at 12:01 a.m. This coincides with the closing of recreational greater amberjack season in federal waters.

 

The closing of the commercial and recreational greater amberjack season is issued under the authority of Section 49-15-15 (1) of the Mississippi Code of 1972.
