Mississippi Commercial King Mackerel Season to Close

BILOXI, Miss. – Commercial fishing season for king mackerel will close in Mississippi territorial waters on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at 12:00 p.m. and remain closed until July 1, 2012 at 12:01 a.m. This closure coincides with the determination by the National Marine Fisheries Service that the annual commercial quota for this species has been harvested. The closing of the commercial king mackerel season is issued under the authority of Section 49-15-15 (1) (a) of the Mississippi Code of 1972.
