Mississippi Recreational Greater Amberjack Season to Close June 1

BILOXI, Miss. – Recreational fishing season for greater amberjack will close in Mississippi territorial waters on Friday, June 1, 2012, at 12:01 a.m. and remain closed through Aug. 1, 2012 at 12:01 a.m. This coincides with the closing of recreational greater amberjack season in federal waters.

 

The closing of the recreational greater amberjack season is issued under the authority of Section 49-15-15 (1) of the Mississippi Code of 1972.

 

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the state by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
