The Marine Patrol Reserve Unit was established to assist the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources’ Office of Marine Patrol in its efforts to enhance, protect and conserve the coastal resources of the state of Mississippi. Reserve law enforcement officers are required to attend trainings and maintain part-time certification with the Mississippi Board Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Training. The Reserve Unit diligently works to assist Marine Patrol with routine enforcement, as well as special events such as, opening of shrimp season, regattas, air shows, Mardi Gras and the Blessing of the Fleet. The successful candidate chosen to volunteer has the honor to join a progressive unit, comprised of highly motivated individuals who are committed to protecting Mississippi’s prized resources located along the Northern Gulf of Mexico.
