NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service – Coastal Zone Consistency Determination

NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has filed notice of a proposed regulation which requires review by the MS Department of Marine Resources to ensure compliance with the state’s approved Coastal Program under the Coastal Zone Management Act.

Pursuant to the action requested by the Gulf of Mexico and South Atlantic Fishery Management Councils, NMFS would promulgate regulations to implement Amendment 34 to the Fishery Management Plan for the Coastal Migratory Pelagic Resources of the Gulf of Mecixo and South Atlantic Region, which would update the Atlantic migratory group king mackerel acceptable biological catch, annual catch limits, recreational annual catch targets, and sector allocations based on the most recent stock assessment (Southeast Data Assessment and Review 38 Update assessment 2020). Additionally, the amendment proposes changes to management measures for Atlantic king mackerel and Atlantic migratory group Spanish mackerel

Amendment 34 can be found at: https://www.fisheries.noaa.gov/action/amendment-34-catch-level-and-allocation-adjustments-and-management-measures-atlantic-king.
