NOAA’s National Marine Fisheries Service has filed notice of a proposed rule change which requires review by the MS Department of Marine Resources to ensure compliance with the state’s approved Coastal Program under the Coastal Zone Management Act.
The proposal would promulgate regulations to provide an opportunity to for-hire operators with a federal charter vessel/headboat permit for Gulf reef fish or Gulf and Atlantic coastal migratory pelagic species to report a malfunction with a vessel’s location-positioning device.
