BILOXI, Miss. – National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration officials have announced that the recreational fishing season for Greater Amberjack (Seriola dumerili) will close in federal waters on September 27, 2025, at 12:01 a.m. local time. In concurrence with the federal season closure, the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is announcing the closure of state territorial waters.
The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the state by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
