Recreational Red Snapper Season to Open June 1

BILOXI, Miss. – The recreational fishing season for red snapper (Lutjanus campechanus) will open in Mississippi territorial waters on June 1, 2013 at 12:01 a.m. with a two (2) fish bag limit and a sixteen (16) inch minimum size limit. Currently the season is set to run thirty-four (34) days and scheduled to close July 5, 2013 at 12:01 a.m. Several issues may impact this closing date and the number of fishing days may decrease. The opening of this season is issued under the authority of Section 49-15-15 (1) (a) (2009), of the Mississippi Code.
