BILOXI, Miss. – The state Commission on Marine Resources on Tuesday certified three state fishing records.
Mark Ros, Jr. of Pascagoula set the record for the Southern Kingfish (Menticirrhus americanus) with a fish weighing 2 pounds, .84 ounces. The previous record was 1 pound, 14 ounces and was set in 1985.
Scott Floyd of Pascagoula set a record for the Oyster Toadfish (Opsanus tau) with a fish weighing 2 pounds, 4.48 ounces. The previous record of 2 pounds, 4.2 ounces, was set in 2014.
Elijah Troutman of Ocean Springs set a record for a Red Lionfish (Pterois volitans) with a fish weighing 1 pound, 11.41 ounces. The previous record of 1 pound, 11.2 ounces, was set in 2015.
