BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Commission on Marine Resources (CMR) is soliciting public comments on the Notice of Intent to update, modify and change Title 22, Part 4 Rules and Regulations for the Taking of Crabs in the State of Mississippi and Title 22, Part 9 Rules and Regulations for Statistical Reporting and Confidentiality of Statistical Data for Marine Fisheries in the State of Mississippi.
The Title 22, Part 4 proposed change removes the word “Mississippi” allowing recreational crab traps to be serviced by vessels not registered in Mississippi.
The Title 22, Part 9 proposed changes are to adopt a Trip Ticket program for all components of the Mississippi seafood industry and to introduce language to establish a Fresh Product Permit.
Public comments on proposed regulation changes will be accepted through 5 p.m. on Oct. 17, 2011 via email or U.S. mail. Title 22, Part 4 should be directed to Joe Jewell (joe.jewell@dmr.ms.gov) and Title 22, Part 9 should be directed to Christine Murrell (christine.murrell@dmr.ms.gov).
