Commercial fishing for large coastal, Hammerhead sharks to close March 14

BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources announces commercial fisheries for the linked aggregated large coastal shark (LCS) and Hammerhead shark management groups in Mississippi territorial waters will close in conjunction with the western Gulf of Mexico subregion closure at 11:30 p.m. local time on Sat., March 14, 2020.

 

Harvest of Blacktip and Small Coastal Sharks will continue to be allowed until quotas are met.

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the state by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
