DMR Looks Forward to Deploying Rubble from Washington Street Pier to Create New Pass Christian Reef

BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources’ (DMR) Artificial Reef Bureau has plans to deploy material from the Bay St. Louis Washington Street Pier to create a new Pass Christian fishing reef.

 

The concrete rubble was donated to DMR for the purpose of creating a new artificial reef in the Mississippi Sound. DMR has issued a permit for the project, and is expecting the federal permitting process to be complete in the next few weeks.

 

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the state by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
