BILOXI, Miss. – The following is a statement from MDMR Executive Director Jamie Miller regarding Thursday’s arrest and indictment of former employees of the agency:
“We were informed today that several former DMR employees turned themselves in to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office,” said Jamie Miller, executive director of the DMR. “Throughout this investigation, we have cooperated with state and federal authorities and will continue to do so. We are pleased that state and federal officials are moving toward a resolution of their investigation, and we want to move forward and continue to do the work of this agency.”
The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the state by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
