Mississippi Oyster Reef Areas Reopen; Check out and Refrigeration Times Change

BILOXI, Miss– The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (DMR) has announced the reopening of Area II “A” and Area II “C” Conditionally Approved Waters to the harvest of oysters, effective at legal sunrise, Saturday, April 9. 

 

• Area II “A” Conditionally Approved Waters (open) – This area includes the northern portions of the Pass Christian and Henderson Point reefs and Hornets Reef. 

• Area II “C” Conditionally Approved Waters (open) and its subdivisions of II “E” (including Square Handkerchief Reef and southern portions of Henderson Point Reef), II “F” (including southern portions of the Pass Christian Reef) and II “G” (including northern portions of the Pass Marianne and Telegraph reefs).

 

All oystering activities must end prior to 12:30 p.m. and all fishermen must be checked out no later than 12:30 p.m. All oysters are required to be refrigerated within two hours after they are landed.
