Registration open for 25th Annual Mississippi Coastal Cleanup

BILOXI, Miss. – Volunteer registration for the 25th annual Mississippi Coastal Cleanup is now open. Groups, families and individuals are invited to volunteer. Groups are asked to register by Oct. 7. This year’s event will be held from 8-11 a.m. on Oct. 19.

 

Mississippi Coastal Cleanup is the state’s largest cleanup effort and includes more than 70 sites in Harrison, Hancock and Jackson counties, as well as the barrier islands. Volunteers will be provided with trash bags, gloves, data cards and pencils.

 

Last year more than 2,500 volunteers worked to clean the Coast’s mainland and barrier island beaches and waterways, as well as lakes, rivers, marshes, bayous and estuaries up to Interstate 10. During the 2012 cleanup, volunteers picked up nearly 55,000 pounds of trash.
