CMR certifies state record for Swordfish

BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Commission on Marine Resources certified a new state record for Swordfish (Xiphias gladius) at its meeting Tuesday, June 20.

 

Scott Cothran of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., caught the 242-pound, 8.64-ounce fish during the recent Billfish Classic in Biloxi.

 

The previous record was 75 pounds and was set in August, 2007.
