BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Commission on Marine Resources certified two state fishing records at its meeting Tuesday.
John Cuevas of Pass Christian set the convention tackle record for the Black driftfish (Hypercoglyphe bythites). The fish weighed 23 pounds, 3.84 ounces. The previous record was 15 pounds, 7.2 ounces and was set Aug. 13, 2007.
John Reed Guice of Biloxi established a fly-fishing record for the Almaco Jack (Seriola rivoliana). The fish weighed 4.48 ounces.
