CMR certifies youth state record for Spot

BILOXI, Miss. – The state Commission on Marine Resources certified a youth state fishing record at the August monthly meeting held Tuesday.

 

Rodie Armes, 10, of Pass Christian set the youth state record for Spot (Leiostomus xanthurus) using conventional tackle, with a fish weighing 4.87 ounces. The previous youth state record for Spot was also held by Armes with a fish weighing 4.16 ounces.

 

“Congratulations to Rodie for working hard to beat his previous record,” said Mississippi Department of Marine Resources Executive Director Joe Spraggins. “We look forward to seeing more records set by Rodie.”
