New regulations for Sheepshead take effect May 16

BILOXI, Miss. – Officials with the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources are reminding recreational anglers that the new regulations for Sheepshead are effective beginning Wednesday, May 16.

 

In April, members of the state Commission on Marine Resources voted unanimously to establish the bag limit at 15 per person and the minimum total length at 14 inches. Statute changes take 30 days to go into effect.

 

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the state by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
