INFORMATION REQUIRED WHEN SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION
All applications require the submittal of at least one project diagram. This diagram should be clearly legible and include dimensions of all proposed impacts. The following lists give examples of project types and limitations. Below each list are instructions for what information should be included on your diagram. Your project may include elements from more than one list and you may need more than one diagram to show all of the required information.
Please collect all necessary documentation prior to starting a new application, failure to do so may result in a delay in processing your application.
MINOR PROJECTS
If your project meets the limitations below and is located in the USACE Mobile District, project verification can be issued by MDMR. For further details on these limitations and other conditions your project will need to meet, read the full General Permit Guidelines.
PROJECT LIMITATIONS
- Piers & Boathouses: 2,000 square feet total
- Boathouse length: 50 linear feet
- Bulkheads: 500 linear feet
- Riprap: No limit
- Maintenance dredging: 2,500 cubic yards
- New dredging: 1,000 cubic yards
- Reconstruction of existing, previously permitted structures, even if outside these limits
DIAGRAMS FOR ABOVE IMPACTS SHOULD SHOW:
- Dimensions of all proposed impacts
- Dimensions of all existing structures
- Property lines
- Approximate shoreline
- Presence of any marsh vegetation
- Sample drawing
*If your proposed project does not meet the limits above, you will also need to submit a cross-sectional diagram
OTHER PROJECTS
Projects not meeting the above limits for Minor Projects and any projects within the MS Sound or the Pearl River watershed (Vicksburg District) typically require separate authorizations from:
These projects may also require review for potential impacts to threatened, endangered, or special concern species by the:
Examples of such projects include:
- Placement of any type of fill material into wetlands or waterbottoms including fill for
- Residential subdivisions or developments
- Commercial developments, such as shopping centers and industrial sites
- Jetties, breakwaters, groins or similar
- Artificial reefs, oyster reefs, or similar fish-attraction devices
- Fill for marsh or living shoreline creation
- New or expanded marinas
- Utility line installation or maintenance
Some of these projects will require submittal of additional information such as:
- A wetland delineation (must include data sheets)
- An environmental assessment
- Vicinity maps
- Detailed project diagrams
- Cross-sectional diagrams
- Project designs overlaying wetland maps
- Adjacent Property Owner contact information
- This can be obtained from County tax parcel public information.
- An Agent Authorization Form
- If you want your contractor or consultant to work with the MDMR or USACE on your behalf to obtain a permit or be able to discuss your application with either agency
- A Marina Screening Checklist
- If you are proposing a new or expanded marina
