Recreational Gag season closes Dec. 3

BILOXI, Miss. – Officials with the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources announced Tuesday that the recreational season for Gag (Mycteroperca microlepis) will close in Mississippi territorial waters at 12:01 a.m. Dec. 3.

 

The season will reopen July 1, 2015, at 12:01 a.m.

 

This order is under the authority of Mississippi Code Ann. § 49-15-15(1)(a) (2009), and through the authority granted to the Executive Director of the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources by the Commission on Marine Resources.

 

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources is dedicated to enhancing, protecting and conserving marine interests of the state by managing all marine life, public trust wetlands, adjacent uplands and waterfront areas to provide for the optimal commercial, recreational, educational and economic uses of these resources consistent with environmental concerns and social changes.
