CMR Proposes Change to On-Bottom Shellfish Leasing Regulations

BILOXI, Miss. – The Mississippi Commission on Marine Resources (CMR) has proposed a rule change to on-bottom shellfish leasing regulations to provide that each lease application must be accompanied by a bid price per acre in the form of a sealed bid attached to the application. The bid price would be increased from $1 to at least $5 per acre.

 

Public comments on the proposed regulation change will be accepted through April 10, 2011. All comments should be mailed to the Mississippi Department of Marine, Attention: Joe Jewell, Bayview Ave., Biloxi, MS 39530, or emailed to Joe Jewell at joe.jewell@dmr.ms.gov, by 5 p.m. April 10.
